Craig Harrington - Call 0408 117 125 or Book Online
Automatic transmission - North & Central Canberra

Craig believes that a student should never apologise for making a mistake. Apologising can make students feel incompetent and distracts them from the next part of the lesson. Craig makes his students aware that many crashes could be avoided if drivers paid more attention, obeyed the rules and drove in a predictable manner. He aims to impart knowledge to students through real life examples of driver behaviour and its consequences.

Craig has obtained great satisfaction over the years seeing his students progress to become safe, independent drivers. A favourite student quote he recalls sums up the learning journey: "Half way through my logbook I thought I was a good driver but now I've finished and look back, I realise I wasn't that good at all".

Most of his time away from the road is spent with his wife and two young daughters.

Craig holds both an ACT and NSW Driving Instructors Licence and is an accredited NSW Senior Assessor and Keys2drive instructor

The ongoing instructor training provided by NRMA is greatly valued by Yasir who takes pride in offering the highest standard of tuition to his students. He acknowledges that it's important to understand the road rules and regulations and sees the key challenge of his role to be embedding safe driving practices.

For Yasir this challenge comes with great rewards for his students, and therefore there's opportunity to structure effective lessons that are also an enjoyable learning experience. As new skills are learned there is a great sense of achievement and he enjoys seeing his students progress.

Yasir enjoys time behind the wheel and can often be found enjoying a countryside drive. Weekends often involve sharing a meal with family and friends, ideally outdoors, and some down time watching TV is a favourite way to unwind.

Testimonials

I would like to thank Margaret from the Canberra team for being a great driving instructor. She is friendly, easy to chat with, and a great person in general. Margaret has taught me so much about how to be a better driver through our lessons, and I'm grateful I was assigned such a helpful and friendly instructor. Many thanks to Margaret of the NRMA Canberra team for being a great teacher. Muthita -  Sept 2016

I would like to thank the NRMA with providing me with a wonderful driving instructor. Shoel has looked after me throughout my time using NRMA and actively encouraged me to drive in a far more cautious manner. As I had transferred from another driving school, and had been forced to drive in what can only be described as a reckless and unsafe manner, I was relieved with this change as well as the encouragement I received when driving more suited to the conditions. Mr Fakhrul is a wonderful driving instructor who has always thought of my well being first and without I doubt I could have kept up my confidence as a driver. Thank you once again. Frances - Feb 2016

Big thanks to Margaret & the NRMA for helping me finally get my P's! Margaret has been extremely helpful, friendly and thorough in her teaching, and I am very grateful for all her hard work. Grace - Jan 2016

I wish to thank Craig Harrington for his calm and very patient approach to teaching my daughter Sophia to drive. She on many occasions mentioned how much she appreciated and enjoyed being taught by Craig. I have had no hesitation in recommending Craig to others seeking a skilled, patient and friendly driving instructor. I will be contacting him later in the year as our two sons have their learner permits and will be seeking professional instruction. Once again thank you very much. David - Kaleen

I just wanted to say thank you to Shoel Fakhrul. His expertise and fantastic teaching has enabled me to obtain my P's. I will definitely recommend the NRMA to friends based on my very positive experience, thank you! From Facebook - Rhianne

All I can say is the instructor (Shoel Fakhrul) was an experienced competent instructor. The NRMA driving school services were excellent over all a great experience with NRMA driving school. They went well beyond what was expected, would absolutely recommend to others. Mona - ACT

Craig (Harrington) is a fantastic instructor. Because of the demands of work (and sometimes being sent interstate at short notice for longer periods), I have had to stop and start the driving lesson process a few times over the last few years and have consequently tried a few different instructors. I found Craig to be just excellent, careful above all, full of good advice and suggestions that were always made in a manner appropriate to the situation and a great judge of what was up to and what I would be capable of doing next. He was particularly good at coming up with different ways of thinking about particular manoeuvres if one way wasn't quite gelling (such as during the dreaded reverse park) and explaining why a particular step needed to be taken in as easily understandable and compelling way. I would recommend him to anyone. He has a wonderfully calm and unflappable nature, which I found very calming during the first classes where I was most nervous. He is also just a very nice person, who made the whole experience very easy and stress free. I would recommend Craig to anyone I know who is looking for a driving instructor. Irene - ACT
