Tuesday 3 December 2013: Coonamble Rural Transaction Centre will receive a welcome boost to fund their road safety initiatives thanks to the annual NRMA Safer Driving School Road Safety Grants program.
The winning initiative was among 32 community organisations to receive a share of the $100,000 NRMA Safer Driving School Road Safety Grants.
NRMA local Director Graham Blight applauded Coonamble Rural Transaction Centre for its approach to road safety which catered specifically to the needs of the local area.
"Coonamble Rural Transaction Centre will use the $4,500 grant to train volunteer mentors who will deliver driving lessons for youth from disadvantaged backgrounds via the 'In Gear' Driving Program," Mr Blight said.
"The NRMA is proud to support road safety initiatives that make a real difference at a local level."
This year the NRMA has awarded $100,000 in grants for 32 road safety programs that address a range of road safety issues including schools, pedestrian, bike, bus and car safety for children and scooter safety for mobility-impaired or older users.
