The Course is available to NSW learners under the age of 25 who have completed 50 on-road driving hours in their learner log book. These hours do not include those accrued through (3 for 1) structured professional instruction.
In 2012 as part of an ongoing review of the state's licensing system the New South Wales Government announced the introduction of a Safer Drivers Course from July 2013.
The Safer Drivers Course has been designed by the Roads and Maritime Services (formerly the RTA) to establish safer driving practices for learner drivers under 25 years old. Unfortunately this age group is statistically most at risk of a fatal crash once they move to a provisional licence. Research also tells us that the more supervised driving practice a learner driver undertakes the lower the chances of an incident.
NRMA Safer Driving School are accredited by the RMS to conduct the Safer Drivers Course in NSW for learner drivers.
NRMA provided industry advice to the NSW Government Advisory Panel that developed the Safer Drivers Course and they considered NRMA's advice to ensure the course is affordable to all learner drivers.
Visit our course details page for more information on what's involved including costs and explanations of the courses' two modules and our course locations page on where it will be held in the near future.
The course will cost $140.00 incl. GST for both modules 1 and 2.
