Established in 2007 by franchisees Christine Hillis and Sarah Wardman, NRMA Safer Driving Wagga Wagga has become a popular choice for people of all ages looking for help in obtaining their drivers licence and updating their driving skills.

Our best practice curriculum focuses on low risk driving techniques to assist students to become safer drivers for life and not to just pass their driving test.

We appoint only the highest quality driving instructors, each of whom undergoes additional training to meet NRMA Safer Driving quality standards. Each has been chosen not only for their skills as professional educators but for their enormous passion for what they do. Regular re-training programs ensure that all NRMA driving instructors are fully abreast of changes in industry practice and modern education techniques.

Local activities

Safer Drivers Course
Since the road safety initiative was launched by the RMS in July 2013, more than 1,000 Riverina students have become safer drivers through attending the Safer Drivers Course conducted by NRMA Safer Driving Wagga Wagga.

The Safer Drivers Course consists of two modules:

• Module 1, a three hour classroom component; and
• Module 2, two hours on the road with a NRMA-accredited driving instructor where students apply the theory of safe driving from Module 1 into practical application

And on completion of the course, learners receive a 20 hour credit in their learner log book. NRMA Safer Driving Wagga Wagga offers this course at least two times per month. For Safer Driver Course bookings, please click here:

Community Involvement
NRMA Safer Driving School Wagga Wagga has a strong community focus and supports driver training initiatives such as:

  • The George Institute Driver Licensing Program
  • PCYC Traffic Offenders Intervention Program (TOIP)
  • Clontarf program in Mt Austin High School
  • Regular information sessions at numerous Service Clubs, Community Groups and local High Schools

Lesson pricing

NRMA Safer Driving School Wagga Wagga provides local customers with the same "World's Best Practice" training curriculum that is unique to all NRMA driving schools at an affordable rate.

Lesson length varies from 60 minutes to 2.5 hours depending on individual needs, with a 90 minute ongoing driving lesson highly recommended allowing time to review previously taught competencies and introduce new material with sufficient time to practice.

For Learner Drivers
90 minute lesson (initial driving lesson)

A requirement for learner drivers who have not previously had a lesson with an NRMA safer driving instructor. The 90 minute lesson is designed to allow appropriate time to determine the Students knowledge, current skill and confidence level so a tailored program can be developed to suit their needs.


60 - 180 minute lesson (subsequent driving lessons)

For learner drivers who have already had an initial driving lesson with an NRMA safer driving instructor. Ongoing lesson duration can vary in length depending on lesson outcome requirements. Longer sessions can also assist in managing busy schedules. Your instructor can best advise on your individual requirements. All lessons regardless of duration are structured and tailored to suit individual needs.

$80.00 per hour (or part thereof)

150 minute Licence Test Lesson

For learner drivers who are taking their P's test with the RMS (formerly RTA) in an NRMA vehicle. This lesson includes a 60 minute pre-test practice session immediately before the test. Your instructor will then wait while you take the test in the NRMA vehicle and return home with you.

Safer Drivers Course

Available to NSW learners under the age of 25 who have completed at least 50 on-road hours in their learner logbook. These hours do not include those accruded through (3 for 1) structured professional instruction.  

This course aims to help young learner drivers be safer on the road once they receive their provisional licence. Completion on the course will result in a 20 hour reduction in the learner logbook hours. Find out more here.

Refresher Lessons & Licence Re-Testing/Assessment
90 minute Senior Refresher and Assessment

The preferred options for most seniors who want to brush up on their current knowledge and feel more relaxed prior to the assessment. The first half of the session is used as the refresher and may incorporate both theoretical and practical components, as required. The second half is structured with the formal assessment process and feedback.


60 minute Senior Assessment

Ideal for seniors who are very confident in their driving skills and road rule knowledge. The 60 minutes will be in the form of a formal driver assessment with very limited 'warm up' time.


60-90 minute Refresher Lesson

Great for anyone who wants to freshen up their driving skills and update their road rule knowledge at any stage in their driving lifecycle. The refresher can also target specific areas of concern as requested.

$80.00-$120.00 per hour (or part thereof)

Mike Burns

Creating confident, safe drivers is Mike's main priority. He takes pride in his success rate as his students move on to be independent drivers. Mike is committed to ensuring his students individual needs are met and adjusts his teaching style to suit. Mike also believes it's important that his students feel engaged in their learning experience as well as comfortable in all driving environments.

Mike is licensed to teach in automatic and manual transmission and is available most days.

Gino Alleva

Gino has been a part of the NRMA family for nearly 50 years working in a variety of roles and now as a driving instructor. Gino's calm nature allows him to remove the stress out of learning to drive. He is committed to helping young people learn to drive safely, correctly and confidently and particularly enjoys helping them overcome obstacles and assisting them achieve their goals.

Like other instructors Gino's most enjoyable part of the job is experiencing the joy on his student's faces when they pass their driving test.

Gino is licensed to teach in automotive and manual transmissions and is available for bookings most Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Linda Roesler
Linda joined the NRMA Safer Driving School team in 2007 post a long career with the NSW Police and also operating her own driving school.

Linda is an extremely community focussed instructor. Whether she's presenting to groups of school students or senior community groups, Linda builds great rapport instantly and is effective at communicating the importance or road safety to her audience.

Linda's students and senior community groups love her with the school often receives compliments on her as a person and an instructor. She is an extremely professional and very caring person.

Linda is licensed to deliver lessons in both automatic and manual vehicles and is accredited to conduct Senior Assessments. She is also qualified to deliver Module 2 Drives for the RMS Safer Drivers Course.

Jon Morgan

Jon is an experienced trainer and enjoys working with people from different age groups and cultural backgrounds. Before becoming a driving instructor Jon was a NSW Police Force Officer for nearly 30 years which enabled him to work effectively with the wider community on a number of training and mentoring roles. A skill he has taken with him into driving instruction.

Jon is very community minded, having worked closely for many years with the Wagga Wagga PCYC to help influence positive driving behaviours. In addition to his extensive training experience, Jon is a positive and friendly person who has the proven ability to "get-on" with people, in particular young people who are learning to drive.

Jon is accredited to deliver Module 1 and Module 2 of the RMS Safer Drivers Course.

Jon Morgan
Paul Dawson
Paul has a diverse career in training, instructing and guiding young people both as a driving instructor and previously as a NSW Police Force Officer. Paul has been generous with his time in helping the community, regularly presenting at the PCYC Traffic Offenders Program and as a volunteer.

Paul combines great patience with a caring, friendly and relaxed demeanour, and possesses a fun sense of humour. With his professional approach, Paul is able to make difficult things easy to learn. Having three children of his own, Paul is very aware of the importance of teaching good driving skills and just as importantly...the right attitude for Safer Driving!
